TO THE SOUL OF MY MOTHER
SU'AD ABBAS ABDULJABBAR
(she left this world
more than 15 years ago,
but still with me)
Mother, Mère, Mutter,
Meuh, Madre,
Mama, mummy, mum.
My respect,
My kisses, my greeting.
Good morning thy majesty,
Mama, mummy, mum.
I kiss thy hands with
A happy heart,
Thou are the first
Love in my life,
Oh mother.
Mother, Mère, Mutter,
Meuh, Madre,
My respect,
My kisses, my greeting.
Good morning thy majesty,
Mama, mummy, mum.
Today the world
Is a greeting card
Just for thee. Spring
Has filled it with million
Of roses and flowers.
The sphere has become
Inside thy home,
And before all,
I came to thee.
Thou whom
I opened my eyes,
To find thee and I
Are one thing.
Thou love me
And I love thee,
While living
Beside thy heart,
My eyes admire thee
My soul responds to thine,
I close and open
My eyes saying
Good morning
Thy Majesty.
Mother, Mère, Mutter,
Meuh, Madre,
Mama, mummy, mum.
My respect,
My kisses, my greeting.
Good morning thy majesty;
I am singing for motherhood;
For the serving hand,
Saying, oh my God, mother
How beautiful is thy
Warmth and softness.
Mother, Mère, Mutter,
Meuh, Madre,
Mama, mummy, mum.
My respect,
My kisses, my greeting.
Good morning thy majesty;
Thou are a fighting lady
Whose case is
To make my life
A pleasant thing,
Even if the price
Paid is to be
In everlasting
Worries.
Thou suffered a lot
For my sake,
For making me walk
For encouraging
Me to run,
And however far go I,
Here I am coming
Back early in a haste,
And I hold thee tight
Saying Good morning
Thy Majesty.
Mama, mummy, mum.
My respect,
My kisses, my greeting
Good morning thy Majesty.
I do not forget your smile
And I will never forget
That snap which teaches,
But does not humiliate
Or hurts the pride.
Thou taught me the depth
Of the meaning of things,
Thou taught me how to be
Patient to reach
To my hopes,
We laughed,
We sang,
We talked a lot,
I greet thee,
I congratulate thee,
And I pray that God
May protect thee.
Mama, mummy, mum.
My respect,
My kisses, my greeting
Good morning thy Majesty.
