Gratuitous Suffering Poem by O Anna Niemus

Gratuitous Suffering

Rating: 5.0

They call it 'catch and release'
thinking it better to rip out
the fish's throat or eye or gills
cutting
away the hook.. than
to kill him and eat his flesh.

Gratuitous cruelty,
paid for in American parks
by people who have
not been consulted.

Why not sit with a pole in the
water...one with no lethal
danglers
from the anglers
to save them from
becoming stranglers
