Greetings From Rainy Portland, Or Poem by Kitty Marie Lucas

Greetings From Rainy Portland, Or

I miss you.
You haven’t come around in so long.
My heart is aching, but it can’t bring you back.
A distance miles across, leagues wide;
loneliness has devoured my pride

I remember our conversations, and a drive in the pouring rain;
and taking you for granted, thinking you would never leave.

I know anger, sorrow, and grief.
They are my new companions
I remember everything, I miss everything,
now there is no one like me,

A hole is growing in me.
The source of my answers is gone.
I can’t recreate you, nor find you;
I wish you were here.
What went wrong?

I forgive you, I need you, I love you.
I miss you.
