Hail Poetess Kalamu Chache Poem by Rex-mayor Ubini

Hail Poetess Kalamu Chache

My eyes never saw a dinosaur,
Ere the species exit to dust
But my ear
Met the tale of their sojourn here
Great stars of the gloomy sky
Of our planet earth
Had long gone into extinction
Before my clock dare to walk
I was no where in the skull of memory
From the cradle to the grave of Great Shakespeare,
Great Sophocles who etched the greatest tragedy,
Hildegard of Bingen who spent most of her time
Behind convent walls writing music and poetry.
St Teresa of Avila mystic poetess
Who helped to reform the tradition of Catholicism
And steer the religion away from fanaticism.
But am proud Maya Angelou breathed into my time
And left me to the world with a pen.
ladies and gentle men,
There lives another great woman
A cultural artist of our time
Am so elated knowing she breathes in my days
Her greatness surpass the pages of my imagination
A soul adorned with rare virtues
A great clock
Walking on the path of glory with humility
May your days breathe on
Hail Poetess Kalamu Chache.
