For a night's eyes
The hawk circled in
The light of the stars
Circling low to earth
And gardens
Screaming:
For a night's eyes
The watermill stopped
Gurgling; froze the
Sounds into that
Instant before mid-night
Came; before the
Shrieking in the inlet
High
Of rocks and giddying.
The waters silent stood
Rehearsing for the dawn
That night.
