Heart Unshrouded Poem by Linda Marie Van Tassell

Heart Unshrouded

The piano player's hands have withdrawn
and play no more upon the keys at dawn.
Blossoms diminish on every tree.
One red rose left on the pillow for me.
The crimson petals that adorn the rose
a sad missive behind their grace compose.
The blue birds in the garden sadly sing
such bittersweet notes of abandoning.
My lover is gone, momentary bliss.
I sadly recall the taste of his kiss.
One love, one night, near his body to dwell,
stolen at dawn as the birds sing farewell.
Star-pale reflection, I still yearn for thee.
Defy time and space and come back to me.
