Heartache So Severe (Lies Breaking Truces) Poem by Elizabeth Sheaffer

Heartache So Severe (Lies Breaking Truces)

You keep on running 'cause you've got nowhere to hide
Tripping over stones, your words, upon the ground
Chasing an ideal that will never be discovered
You open up your mouth to scream but, baby, there's no sound
I watch you throw away your life
All I wanted was to save you
I wanted to be your everything
But there's nothing left for me to do
Pluck the moon out of the sky
Place it in your hands
Broken slivers in the dust
Can't meet those demands
Light glints off your conscience
Shattered on the grass
Lucifer holds reign over you
Tells you, 'Look your last.'
Voices ringing in my head
'Failure-once again.'
Will I ever find a way out?
I need that peace within...
