His Purposes Move On
His purposes move on apace -
They do not wait for man,
Nor do they wait for such as I -
As lowly as I am.
So if tomorrow all should rise
And find that I am gone,
No break in time marks my demise-
His purposes march on.
And yet it is too marvelous
For me to understand
That to this tiny fleck of dust
He lent a helping hand.
Or when this weary heart cried out,
Or in its foolishness despaired.
He handed me a precious hope
To show that He still cared.
