Home Is For The Heartless Poem by Joshua McKinney

Home Is For The Heartless

Ever feel like you don't belong in your own skin
There's a cloud above me today
It follows my every movement
Constricting my thoughts from any color but black
I've always been afraid of the future
Not knowing what could happen
Instead of speaking my heart I hold my tongue
In fear of the consequences that may ensue
I guess I'd rather be comfortable with what I have
Than shoot for happiness that isn't garrenteed
Sometimes though, it eats me up inside
The fact that I'm so scared
So scared of facing this reality
So scared of opening up just to be nailed back down
This fear is my bondage
This fear is my home
