Hospital Portraits Poem by Nika McGuin

Hospital Portraits

Rating: 2.8

Little rooms made larger
by adding large portraits
such clever doctors
they know patients
would rather be miles
away from here
so they add pictures
we can escape into

Hello, Nika This a delightful poem! And I really needed to read at this time. My best friend collapsed several weeks ago and was taken to the hospital, and still remains for a long course of therapy. His condition is stable but recovery will be very long. And so I find myself seeing many hospital rooms when I visit him, and paying attention to the paintings and photographs. Your poem captures both the wonderful dedication of the hospital staff and also acknowledges that we - patients and visitors - want to escape to an ideal place. Your poem helps me appreciate the care he's receiving, encourages me to be patient, and lifts my spirits. I'm glad I found this poem!
