How Bad Have You Had It Poem by Randy McClave

How Bad Have You Had It

No matter how bad you have had it
I have had it just as bad, or maybe even worse,
Why not see if one of my shoes will fit
Then you can tell me if your life is really a curse?
Do you not think that no one else has ever been used
And that no one else has ever been hurt,
And that no one else has ever been cut or bruised
Maybe you believe you're the only one to give someone your shirt.
Why not try on one of my shoes
And then if you want me to, I will then try one of yours on,
Then you can look about and then try and accuse
Then you can tell me whose the sympathy seeking con.
Before you tell me of your life
Before you tell me about the world that you fear,
And before I hear of your sadness and of your strife
I have stopped looking at my life through a rearview mirror.
We all have been given a very sad story
Mine is now forever buried in my past,
I don't give it audience any time or praise or ever any glory
I have refused to allow it to ever last.
Jesus was tortured and then he was beaten
And then he was nailed and crucified on the cross,
Then he became our life's beacon
Did you ever compared with him your great loss?
Maybe one day you can write yourself a paper or even a book
On how no one has had it as bad as you've had
You can write about liars, abusers, cheaters, deadbeats and even a crook
Then on the list of contributors, everyone's name you can add.
Before you again cry out about your sadness and your pity
Why not try on someone else's shoe,
Then try to be either smirky or witty
When you have seen where those shoes have walked you to.
