Human Being Poem by Tom Allport

Human Being

Rating: 5.0

Accept the truth of the situation
Gone has your beloved Nation
You are now classed as a refugee
Yet you are not....to me
You are a human being
Someone who needs help to carry on living.

Sad is the plight of refugees....! To be suddenly deprived of everything we have been gathering through years of sweat and toil is something we cannot even imagine...! How miserable they must be feeling when cut off from all ties and aimlessly floating! They need the whole world's compassion and support! A sensitive and sensible write!

When I try to imagine what it is like to be a refugee, my mind boggles and my heart cries for mercy. To leave all your memorabilia behind- -no more trinkets to remind of blessed moments with Father and Mother and brother... to lose contact with fellow neighbors and townsmen perhaps to never see them again or hear what became of them, to be hungry and cold all the time and worse see your children hungry and sickenning... Kindness is the least we can do for these people

Wonderful poem, sometimes we forget how fragile the world is and how hard it is to live in exile.
