Hurricane Sandy: The Nightmare Of The Century Poem by Hebert Logerie

Hurricane Sandy: The Nightmare Of The Century

Everybody has a fascinating story to tell,
About Sandy, the queen of Halloween.
Believe me, mine is synonymous with hell:
The angry monsters that cannot be seen,
The grumpy sounds of the wavy seas,
The strange harrowing of the wind,
The spasmodic spread out of the sand,
The agonizing sighs of the battered trees,
The heavy landings of the falling lumbers,
The twisting of the utility poles with the wires and the conductors,
The incessant poundings on the roof,
The deafening swears of the thunders,
The flood, the deluge, the blackouts, the haunted booth,
The evacuations, the rescues, the bravery of the first responders,
The tears, the cries, the somber faces of the youngsters,
The untimely deaths, the accidental drowning, the sad funerals,
The lost of many sweet homes, the eerie silence of the malls,
The unwavering help of the lawmakers, the unwanted pool in the basement,
The resiliency of the people, and the full dedication of our President.

We are all in this together; we are all under the weather.
Thank God that we are alive, we can build and rebuild.

The tunnels and the subway tracks are swallowed up by the river.
The cars cannot run and the boats are piled up, one on top of each other.
The jet planes, the helicopters and Big Bird are hiding in the hangar.
Hurricane Sandy means business, she wants to destroy, and devour.
She is not afraid to challenge, defy and show her unbelievable power.

We are all in this together; we are all under the weather.
Thank God that we are alive, we can build and rebuild.

We have unceremoniously experienced the worst;
Presently, let's gleefully hope for the best.
Better days and calmer nights are ahead; tomorrow is near.
Spring is not too distant; let's bury our tears under the giant pier.

Show me the sparkles of the stars, bring me the sunshine,
Show me the clair de lune, and let us send Hurricane Sandy off-line.
