I Am A Moderate Humanist Poem by Hebert Logerie

I Am A Moderate Humanist

A very special person asked me a question
The other day, if I was a Communist?
I replied: heck no. But I love action.
I am a moderate Humanist.
I believe in good health,
Before affluent wealth.
People must come before money and power,
Otherwise, we will be treated as sore losers.
There are too many weapons that can kill,
Too many invaders who destroy and steal,
Too many companies are polluting the water,
Too many chemicals are dumped in the sewer,
Too many people are poor and hungry,
And are living in unhealthy conditions;
Too many people are sad and thirsty,
And are suffering from malnutrition.
Look at what has been going in the continent of Africa,
Haiti, Afghanistan, India, Malaysia, Lebanon, Iraq, Syria,
And many other countries in the Americas.
We, Human Beings, must help each other.
I cannot sleep thinking about those brothers
And sisters. Somebody has to say something
Of behalf of the People who have a mouth, fearing
Of brutalities and death, are unable to speak.
Humans must love and fight for each other.
We must write on behalf of those, who have a bleak
And a blank future. Otherwise, we are the oppressors,
The exploiters, the criminals, and the blood suckers.
There is enough food to feed the entire universe,
Just like in our religious books, there are enough verses
To heal the entire world. We are one, speaking different dialects.
We are the same. No one is better than the other. I am correct
In what I am saying. Let's start by waving to our neighbors today,
Build bridges, and make someone more comfortable this present day.
Life on earth is too short to give someone hell. I am a modern Humanist.
We can get along,
And play the same song,
The song of peace and love.
Look up to the Heavens, look above,
And thank God for such a journey
On Earth, and have a blessed day.
