I Am No Thorn To Tear The Endearing Hearts Poem by Athee Peter

I Am No Thorn To Tear The Endearing Hearts

It sickens my heart to think
When I remember the sprain in my brain,
Ah me! What a rain of pain!
A gentleman I won't undress,
Casts on me a creepy face
And storms me for a damsel
Who is but a fair friend;
Says he for them I a hinder!
Malady, malady, oh a shame!
I am no thorn to tear
Nor a flame to burn-
The hearts by love consumed;
I wish them all peace
But leave me ease,
What a painful malady!
Ah me! A hedge I won't ever be.
