I Came So Close To Living

I came so close to living,
a breath away
I came so close to living,
as they would say.
He came at the wrong time,
late for my soul to chime.
It wasn't enough.
I wasn't that tough.
My heart was not strong
it had been so long
It finally fluttered,
as my life stuttered.
My strength was gone, out
Welcome me I shout.
