I Can’t Sleep Poem by Satarupa Rudrapal

I Can’t Sleep

Rating: 2.7

I can’t sleep
The night is long, unending
My pain too fresh, too intense
To cloak it with compensations
I wait for sunrise
For its rays to caress my tired eyes
I ignore the lonely night and wait
Wait for life to smile at me again
Wait for your touch to erase my pain
For joy to be a part of us once again
But still the emptiness creeps up to me
Holds me in its grip, poisons me
My mind is plagued with your memories
I lie awake with my tears for company
