I Cannot Stand By You Poem by Azul Noir

I Cannot Stand By You

I'm angry. I'm hurt. I'm sorry.

I should have saved you, like you saved me.
Maybe if I told you. Maybe if you knew.
Maybe my story is not enough for you.
Maybe because you saved me I can't save you.

I would kill for you, I would die for you,
steal for you, lie for you,
but I cannot stand by you.
If you stand there you are not you.

I do not know you while you know him.
I should have killed him, but you would have mourned him.
I should force you away from him, but you would not reject him.
If I take your memory you will simply re-create it.

I miss you. I need you. I love you.
But you are not you.
I wonder if you will ever be again.
Are you dead or are you sleeping?

I don't see why no one sees.
My sister died. She's gone, but she's not buried.
She is living in hell right in front of me
and my penance cannot save her.

My sister died.
I cannot stand by you.
