I Care Poem by Marla Smith

I Care

I find that I’m on this lonely road alone ~~ I keep walking and hope that what I know will not come true ~~ I walk along this road knowing who I hurt the most ~~ Knowing too much about everyone and everything ~~ Knowing the road is long ~~ And there is no looking ahead ~~ Because it is pitch black ~~ And no one looks back ~~ To see all the pain and hurt ~~ That is caused by some small and some large ~~ Some things in life you want to stop ~~ You can’t help but to look into there eyes ~~ And see the scars on there heart ~~ As they look at you with pleading eyes that says help me ~~ You tell them it will be alright ~~ Your heart starts to ache as you see them start to cry ~~ All you can do is hug them and start to think about what your going to do ~~ Knowing that the world is heartless in many ways ~~ Knowing that only a few people care about what happens to you ~~ Knowing that I care about you ~~ What you say and what you do will never change my mind ~~ I will still care ~~ And I always will ~~ Seeing the tears fall off your face ~~ And the look in your eyes ~~ And the mark on your face ~~ Convinces myself even more that I can help you ~~ I know this pain and hurt has to end sometime ~~ And that time is now.
