I Choose To Believe Poem by Tom Krause

I Choose To Believe

I Choose to Believe
Maybe I believe in a time that never was.
Maybe I believe in a time that never will be.
The only thing that really matters is that I choose to believe.

I choose to believe that someday things will be better.
I choose to believe that someday we will treat each other better.
I choose to believe that it is more important that we share our gifts
than how much we gain from our gifts.

I choose to believe that those at the bottom
deserve as much respect as those at the top.
I choose to believe in dreams and possibilities.
I choose to believe that life has a purpose.

I believe that God must see our flaws
yet he continues to believe in us.
If God doesn't give up on us
then why should we?

I believe that tomorrow’s realities
can come from our beliefs today.
I believe the future is not certain.
The future is a choice.

Though logic and reason
may convince others to prove,
I believe I don't always have to prove.
I simply believe.

If scorn, ridicule and laughter
come from believing then so be it.
Someday that will end.
What will never end is faith, hope & love.
I choose to believe.
