I Didn'T Expect You To Be Prepared For That Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

I Didn'T Expect You To Be Prepared For That

Did you think I came to you,
To tenderize the moment?
I didn't come for that.

I came to spread some light on your darkness.
With a whip that cracks.
And I didn't expect you to be prepared for that.

That's why I brought along a stiff kick...
To set it a blaze up your lactic acid,
Placid plucking monoaminergic ass!

'Why are you so angry?
And what does all that mean? '

I'm not as nearly as angry as I was,
When I started composing this.
That's why I am late getting here!
It took a while to put this together.
Don't ask any questions!
You make me sick with your laziness.

We only have a brief period in which to work, then the darkness unavoidable.
