I Don't Care Poem by Mark Heathcote

I Don't Care

You can chase me like a bear.
Roaring everywhere
But honey, I don't care.
I don't even care.

My heart has been here before.
And honey, I know the score.
So take a snapshot, and I'll be gone.
So take an etching, but darling don't be long.

I'll put a thornless rose.
Between your plum-red lips or on your pillow
And ask you about the future tomorrow.
And then I'll let you go.

Go on roaring like a bear.
Dear, roaring everywhere
But honey, I don't care.
I don't even care.

I've been hit from behind with a wooden chair.
I've been cursed almost everywhere.
Lost in the shadows of despair
You can't hurt me; my heart is stoneware.

It's been broken and fixed together.
On a million different occasions.
But my rose I still want to fall into your arms.
Till redundant charms bear arms...

Oh, go on roaring like a bear.
Dear, roaring everywhere
Oh, honey, I don't care.
I don't even care.

My heart has been here before.
And honey, I know the score.
