I Have A Mind Poem by Mark Heathcote

I Have A Mind

I have a mind that doesn't contain any facts
I have a mind that-romanticizes-how-long love can last.
I have a mind that-doesn't-believe in autumn leaves
And believes spring lives on eternal, everlasting long
I-have-a-mind that idealizes every situation
And looks for the good in every evil fool
I-have-a-mind that can't contain its beating heart
I-have-a-mind that prays that when I'm dead
I finally find a final resting place where I belong evermore
I have a heart that tells me to remain strong
I have a heart that tells me it won't be long
Till I find a reason not to give in to doubt
I have a heart that tells me to fight to stay alive
I have a heart that tells me to love
I have a heart that tells me always to forgive
But it-isn't-easy if you've lived the life that I've lived.
