I Have And I Am Poem by John Demon Jones

I Have And I Am

I have cut, yet I do not bleed.
I have cried, yet I do not tear.
I have heard, yet I do not listen.
I have slept, yet I do not rest.
I have seen, yet I do not understand.
I have touched, yet I do not feel.
I have taken, yet I do not gain.
I have needed, yet I do not receive.
I have loved, yet I do not lust.
I have learned, yet I am not taught.
I have died, yet I am not dead.
I have spoken, yet I am not heard.
I have feared, yet I am not afraid.
I have thanked, yet I am not thankful.
I have been lonely, yet I am not alone.
I have been strong, yet I am not mighty.
I have been antisocial, yet I am surrounded by people.
I have shattered, yet I am not broken
