I Never Meant Poem by Rebecca Moors

I Never Meant

I never meant to break your heart.
And, now I’ve torn both of our lives apart.
I know you must think I don’t love you.
But even though I did wrong, my love beats true.
And, if I lost you, God help me, I wouldn’t know what to do.
Though I know, that’s what I deserve, because of what I did to you.
To hear the pain in your voice, to see it in your eyes.
You must be thinking our love was built on lies.
If only I could turn back the hands of time,
And erase my crime.
I can only imagine how you feel, because I feel like I should die.
The tears I cry, shouldn’t amount to dust.
And, now because of my lust,
I hurt the one who matters to me most.
And, although you may have forgiven me, your pain will haunt me like a ghost.
