I Praise Your Bitterness Poem by Koffi B Sossou

I Praise Your Bitterness

Rating: 4.7

I praise your bitterness

Father of suicide
I celebrate your cruelty
The lord of Romeo and Juliet
The condemner of Samson

I praise your bitterness

The more bitter you are, the sweeter you become
Many went insane, got sick, starved because of you
Thousands are still running after you
O, beautiful danger

Love you are!

(cont.) But 'Father of suicide'? ? Perhaps in R & J's case, but WHO is the mother? ? ? ? And, ok, I can accept Uncle of Suicide, but maybe NOT 'Father'. AS for bitter & sweet, I could use some explanation, though I've some idea of what 'bittersweet' means, esp bittersweet chocolate! ! ;)

Ok, I just read your message saying you've personified 'Love'. Ok, I'll 'buy that'. (cont.)

Koffi, WHO is meant by 'you' and 'your'? ? ? ? I do not understand the poem at all. : ( I suggest a Poet's Notes, though it's better to 'not need one'. ;) bri

'You' and 'Your' stand for LOVE.

line 6: I would not use 'bitter' in this line. 'The form bitterer is almost never used to mean 'more bitter, ' but the form bitterest is commonly used to mean 'most bitter.'

Bible story: 'Samson asks to rest against one of the support pillars. After being granted permission, he prays to God and miraculously recovers his strength, allowing him to bring down 'the columns, collapsing the temple and killing himself as well as all of the Philistines. '

All this happened because of his love for Delilah who betrayed him to the Philistines.
