I Raised My Eyes Poem by Romeo Della Valle

I Raised My Eyes

Rating: 5.0

In my nights of solitude
You came to me
Each night only in
My dreams and as real
As it all seemed
I couldn't find you
By day yet I had hope
That we would meet
Per chance!

I relished the nights
Looked to the moon
Wished upon a star
That very soon
I would see just where
You are but still
I raised my eyes
I cried for you didn't
Appear yet!

Perhaps I expected
To see you too soon
My world was so empty
I needed you in it
Until at last you arrived
And it was then the light
Of love brightened up
My life!
