I Remember

i walked down the road
with a pen in my hand

i remember so long ago
when our eyes first met
i remember so long ago
when i first called out your name

i remember so long ago
when we first held hands
i remember so long ago
when we first kissed

i remember so long ago
the promises you made under the stars
i remember so long ago
you were there for me when i needed you

i remember not long ago
we drifted apart
i remember not long ago
you broke my heart

i remember
so much love used to be there
now, it's all vanished

poet Edgar Allan Poe

Kind solace in a dying hour!
Such, father, is not (now) my theme-
I will not madly deem that power
Of Earth may shrive me of the sin
