I Saw It In The Early Spring (Free Verse Sonnet) Poem by Gert Strydom

I Saw It In The Early Spring (Free Verse Sonnet)

I saw it in the early spring,
saw it creeping out of the long grass
where the spots on that cheetah
melted in with the grass and the bushes
of its surroundings and that yellow eyes
did look at me, microscopic watched,
I was intensely aware of it,
and it of me as if we were the only creatures
that does exist on this huge planet
but later it streched out,
with a curled tail
that swished to and thro
while that glance in its eyes do remain with me still,
the awareness and the urge to survive.
