I Shall Have Peace Poem by Sergio D'Amico

I Shall Have Peace

Rating: 3.8

I shall have peace
after the sun's descent,
after the moon's ascent,
against the peaceful trees
I will sit down and rest.

But I will not be here
to witness the sun's ascent,
and see the moon's descent;
and I will restrain my fear,
hardly anyone will shed a tear.

Against this black sea
once covered with blue,
I wait to see if the tales
of the Darkest hour
and Blackest night are true,
For at the last hour
of borrowed time,
I shall have peace.
