I Sit In Silence Now Poem by Mirela Athanas

I Sit In Silence Now

Rating: 5.0

I sit in silence now,
Listening to the bird songs that slowly fade,
As they stand on the empty branches of trees,
Looking up, the wind touches my face,
And my eyes meet the sky set free.
I sit in silence, dead leaves around me,
And fresh rose buds, already dead,
unable to bloom, all surround my presence,
And I try to observe and absorb everything;
Once the dead leaves reminded me of Spring,
And they didn't look dead, but carried fragility,
Rose buds unable to bloom, a beauty in its sleep,
But they don't any longer, not anymore!

I try to realize how have I changed,
Since the day, the one I feared the most,
Most of all in this life, ever since I could understand,
Ever since I was a child, just happened, this Autumn!
The death of leaves seems like the curtain fall,
Of a long theater act, where the main character,
The one who gave life to everything and to all,
Who rose and made everyone sing of joy and laughter,
The one with the smiling heart, the beautiful soul,
Fell as if a whole tree hit the ground,
And the golden leaves spread all around
Covering the earth with death, and only that,
And there were no applauses at the end of the act.
Only teary eyes, and endless cries.
Understandable, after all this,
I sit in silence now,
Trying to understand, to make sense,
Do leaves fall because of Autumn,
And the seasons that change,
Or are they already dead,
Since Spring, and even before that,
Do the Rose buds ever blossom,
Or is it just an illusion and a pretend?
As I sit in silence
I have all these questions
But no answer,
Peace and death around me,
Dead leaves and dead rose petals,
As I try to make sense,
One sure thing I know now,
Everything has forever changed,
Forever, it will never be as it was,
I'm living in a new Era,
Where everything I knew,
Is different, feels different,
Everything has a different shape,
Color, fragrance, existence,
Even Autumn and Spring,
But then again,
I will wait until Spring,
To give a final impression!
