I went to work, as I do every morning,
and I started out, as I do every day,
on my early morning journey, I spurned a fellow man,
with no apologies, I offered not my hand.
I went to work, as I do every morning,
I started out as I do every day,
I made sure to catch his eye this time,
I shook his hand and bought him coffee.
We talked of life, and love, and causes,
and I will try to never make that same mistake again.
I went to work as I do every morning,
I started out as I do every day,
I called him by his name,
and for me he did the same,
I consider him a friend today ...
... it wasn't even hard, to like the guard.
