I Want To Begin Again Poem by Shalom Freedman

I Want To Begin Again

I WANT TO BEGIN AGAIN
I want to begin again
I do not know where or how to
All that I have done
Through many years
Is not good enough
Perhaps I can never be good enough
And that is my story
And yet before the end
I would like to make
A new attempt
To go out trying
To go out giving it all
And at least make my lifelong story
One of courage in persistence.

Oh, I'm certain COURAGE IN PERSISTENCE characterizes your life. Your poems give me that sense. But I also sense being your father's son and one of G-d's children have imbued you with this dissatisfaction and then transformed it into a desire to relive your life and make it even better. It's a noble sentiment expressed without vanity or self-importance. Perhaps you have already surpassed your life as you know it!
