I Want To Escape Poem by Katie McKenzie

I Want To Escape

Maybe you’ll find you loved me
And maybe I’ll die not hurting
But no one can say for sure
Who’s the winner of this war

For there’s a battle
Taking place in my heart
And there’s a soldier
Fighting to protect our hearts

But even he can’t find
What everyone’s looking for
Even when he needs it
When he needs it most

It’s what I don’t want
It’s what I don't need
And as I sit and weep
It’s why I grieve

For I
Can’t even die
To save my life

And that soldier out there
I wish I could give my life
For a billions of his
I wish I could give my life
To stop your death and dying

And I wish
I didn't have to live
Didn’t need to feel the pain
Never actually been declared sane

But hey
No one’s okay
With living and dying
I’m just trying
To say

That dying would be
A better path for me

And as I live and breathe
Every sea a dream
And every memory
I wanna burn to the stake

It’s only you
And don’t take this to your heart
But it’s from you
I want to escape
