I Wish Poem by Aparna Chatterjee

I Wish

I wish
I could
Give him
A million
Pounds
And ask
Him not to
Work

At his age
He should be
Resting at home
Not going up the
Ladder to work

(Wrote this after seeing an old window cleaner, cleaning our neighbour's windows; he's a regular here, comes in every month. Every time he goes up the ladder, I feel scared that he might topple down and so I feel so relieved when he climbs down.)
