I Wish To Remember Poem by Edwina Reizer

I wish to remember the first time
I saw you look at me.
There must have been stardust in my eyes
that cleared eventually.

All the looks that came later
I can remember on every day.
They’ve settled permanently in my mind
and will never go away.

But that first time, so all important
is the one by me that’s missed.
They say the sub-conscious retains all.
If true then the first time is at the top of my list.

I wish to remember the first time
but if that cannot be
I’ll have to settle for all the other looks
that you’ve always given me.
