the poet

If I could, I would

If I could,
Hold on to you,
I would do so for eternity.

If I could,
Live a thousand years,
I would trade my life
for a moment of your company.

If I could,
Live life without you,
I would have lost my sanity.

If I could,
Say that I love you,
I would let these 3 words
be my vocabulary.

After

Take the cloak from his face, and at first
Let the corpse do its worst!

How he lies in his rights of a man!
Death has done all death can.
