A single rose buds in total darkness,
Rises above despondency.
If I were a rose,
I would be a prayer for the hurting;
Rather than embracing isms,
Dressed in ecclesiastical robes.
If I were a rose,
Poverty would lose its potency,
Right after the arms race cease.
And surely, politicians and lawyers
Would be forced to tell the truth.
If I were a rose,
The English language would be easier
And I would not have to struggle
To write this poem.
