If I Were A Turtle Poem by Randy McClave

If I Were A Turtle

If I were a turtle,
I would need not ever run a hurtle.

Slow and easy would be my pace,
I would not ever need to enter a race.

I would take my time going here and there,
I would have no worries, and not a care.

Never would I ever need to roam,
Wherever I'd venture, I would be home.

In the creeks and ponds if I wanted to float,
I'd be prepared, with my own houseboat.

I would carry my world upon my back,
As some men carry their world, inside a sack.

Never would I need to change my blouse,
Because on my back, would be my house.

Independence and happiness I do see,
Being a turtle, would very much suit me.
