If Jussie Smollet Were A White Man Poem by Ramona Thompson

If Jussie Smollet Were A White Man

It just stands to reason that we should ask why

Full or BS or is he telling the complete truth?

Justice being done or massacred?

U and I both know how sometimes the law is none too color blind

So is that maybe the twisted case here?

So if is what the hell are we to do?

It's sad our world has come to this whichever way it goes

Everyone taking sides so torn over who to believe

Such bitterness to think this could be a case of racial profiling

Man judged by his skin color alone

Oh yes that is the worst crime of them all

Looking at it closer what dare we to find?

Last in line to be heard here seems to be the truth

Every time we're sure, another twist comes along

This is insane

What if he were white?

Ever think about that?

Right now who could we be standing behind without a doubt

Eventfully the whole bitter story will be known

And either way it goes the damage will be devasting

Where will it leave us?

How will we pick up the pieces to trust again?

It's a scary thing indeed to think about

The monster of racism is feasting away either way and it sucks

Every time we think we have it beat it rears its ugly head again

Must it always be this way?

A hate crime one way or another has been committed here

Now it remains only to be seen

Who is the guilty party here?

The police for jumping to accuse a man just because of his color?

Or......

Jussie Smollet simply because he's a greedy, hateful person at heart?
