If Only Poem by Nicole Delong

If Only

If only you were here,
Instead of just inside my dreams.
If only your touch was real,
Instead of just wishful thoughts.
If only you were here,
Instead of just inside my heart.
I hold a book of burning desires.
Between pages of hope,
Lay two souls, and two hearts.
If only words were reality.
The thoughts made to memories.
The ache inside my heart,
Leaves, bruises deep inside.
My soul is on fire,
For those sweetest of dreams.
If only I had you here,
If only I had your touch.
For now it's just a dream.
If only it were real.
