If only I had known..../3

If I had known that that was my last chance to kiss you...I never would of turned away.

If I had known that that was my last chance to hold your hand...I would of never let go.

If I had known that that was the last morning that I would wake up holding you...I would of held on longer.

If I had known that that was going to be the last nigth we were going to spend together...I would of made it different.

If I had known that that morning was going to be the last morning that we'd spend together in bed...I would of never gotten up.

If I had known that that was going to be my last time hugging you...I would of held you closer.

If I had known that that was going to be the last time I could tell you that I love you and you belive me...I would of told you a million times, looking you in the eyes so that you'd never forget.

If I had known that that was my last chance at our relationship...I would of never given up.

If I had only known...

Yes, if we had known that, we would have and have not done so many things.... (Report) Reply

I'm a 52 yr. old woman in Talladega, AL. This poem has touched me in a spiritual kind of way...let me explain. My youngest daughter, Chelsea, died recently,2-16-08. She was funny, loving, a Mom herself, vivacious, courageous, and an addict. Her face was beautiful...blonde w/ green eyes. Right before she died in the hospital her boyfriend found this poem stuffed in the back of a drawer. Is there more to this poem than what I see here because in the paper that Chelsea had written there are a lot more verses to it? Did she imbellish on it? Someone e-mail me and let me know...Please WE MISS YOU CHEL'Z (Report) Reply

Poem of the Day

poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

I heard the bells on Christmas day
Their old familiar carols play,
And wild and sweet the words repeat
Of peace on earth, good will to men.
