What a romantic poem! ! ! Its poignant declaration of forgetting someone when that someone forgets him is really courageous and borders a little to sourgraping...heheheeh.It goes to show how much effort it takes to make love work...It has to involve two people not only one. I admire the vividness of the imagery of the poem. Great! Great! Great!

So much meaning and depth.

Very powerful write, to give ones self 100 percent and recieve the same equal love in return.. Your wording is fantastic.. and vulnerable, perhaps stemming from a past heartbreak, a break of trust? Either way, you are heard well in this piece..

This poem is based on a love-hate relationship with someone who's already married or someone who has other reason not to be the poet's love.
It is a lovely poem afterall. I would like to read the original version.

i love this poem. It relates so much to me.It is what i feel at times when im with the one i love. But when they just leave i feel like that

I am just recently 6 months married to my beautiful wife and I have no illusions about love being easy. It is easy now, but I know that love takes work and will continue to take work from both parties, forever. But at the same time you can really only give of yourself, that is why it is so important to KNOW really understand the person you’ve committed yourself to BEFORE you choose to marry=love them forever.
This poem is nice, my initial impression before reading all the previous comments is that love is give and take and for Pablo it seems there is need to receive that love before giving it back. I don’t know that I agree, most days love is 50% you 50% them, and some days yes you’ll need to take more than you give but on other days in a healthy relationship you’ll be the one who needs to give the full 100% and that should be expected. Pablo may not be talking about marriage per se but he is talking about love, and marriage is love.
After reading the comments below I think I may have been taking it too personally, Pablo seems to be talking about an “unrequited love” not marriage (which hopefully is a mutual love) and unrequited love IS unhealthy. Likely it is better to forget than dwell on something unattainable. Shree Banerjee and Tranette Williams I think have it right in their comments as well. Poetry Hound is right in that it is very much the unusual love poem, taken in context with the early “romantic” poets who idealized the lifestyle of an unrequited love and pining after their lovers; the poem fits, odd though that it comes now so late. David Brady made a good comment which seems to jive with mine though he focuses on the positive aspects of the poem vs. the negative which is certainly the point-counterpoint of this piece.

i think its great song just because it could express what was hidden in me for so long - and show it to me - in such simple way, , GREAT

One of the greatest poems!
