Ignoble Hero Poem by Ray Tatenda Mutizwa

Ignoble Hero

Rating: 5.0

in the darkness of the night
I found cover from the shame posed by the light
carelessly it mocked me in every right
with heavy blows of curses they fight
diminished I feel the loss of weight
am dwindled am of no respectable height
I drag my feet as I move in a pity gaiety

this is all they wished and it has come real
living such a life is no the raw deal
tears full of depression are now my daily meal
living has come to be casual with no zeal
all day I entreat him that He may heal
hide in water from the pain like a seal

all my detractors do is gloat
as I drown in sorrow they in pride float
upon my sorrows they build destable moat
my house has been turned to a crib of goat

am clothed in dismay and reproach
to anyone I have lost the courage to approach
an outcast I am beyond their reach
they this say would do good to teach
among them to be found is loathsome to each

Well conceived and elegantly crafted in rhythmic splendour. A beautiful creation. Thanks for sharing Tatenda.
