Ilorin Poem by Assayouti Jalaludeen Shuaib

Ilorin

Rating: 4.8

In spite of my hectic days
My arduous vary ways
In the quest to secure for old-age
Never will I deterred
To render my acoustic salute
To my darling city of Ilorin.

Gloomy days of ancient hours
In jahiliyyah era of Oduduwas
Days of superiority acclaimers
Glitz of smile you own
A pride of place to know
Entity of beauty to behold
From you sought abode.

From Okesuna the race began
At Kuwo Alimi reside
The Ilorin eponymous stone
Idi-ape the stone abide.

The island of knowledge
Home for the oppressed
Ilorite I am, I'm proud of,
What I am I show off

Lovely tribute to a confluence city, well articulated and nicely penned in good poetic diction with conviction. Thanks for sharing Assayouti. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON.
