I'm Hungry Laugh - Lincoln Park Zoo Poem by Ima Ryma

A laughing kookaburra who
Gets my name from my laugh like call.
Here at home in Lincoln Park Zoo,
At dawn and dusk I'm heard by all.
It is my way of saying that
Hey keepers I am hungry, so
Come visit my bird habitat,
And don't forget the chow - hello!
I know that in the wild, my kind
Don't have keepers bringing them food.
So when laughing, I keep in mind
To tone it down and not sound rude.

So ev'ry early dusk and dawn,
I'm laughing nice to bring food on.
