Imitation Poem by Juan Olivarez

Imitation

Imitation is the sincerest form,
Of flattery, or so i've heard.
So if you must weather the storm,
Read my poems word for word.

I really won't mind that much,
If I inspire some spark in you.
If I can reach you with my touch,
I won't mind being your glue.

But don't copy down just what you see,
Build your own poems, try your best.
And in that way, you'll learn to be,
A greater poet, above the rest.
