Impropriety Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Impropriety

Tell me,
The moment you believe...
I have committed,
A doing that had been...
Inappropriate.
Or an impropriety.
I want you to let me know.

"So...
You do admit to being wrong? "

I didn't say that.
What I said was,
If 'you' believe...
I have committed an impropriety.
Thought to be inappropriate.
To let me know.

"I understood.
And accept your apology."

For what?
You were the one who said,
My beliefs to have...
Has nothing to do with yours.
Right?
Remember?
Now...
My doing anything you think,
To be wrong.
I may think appropriate to do.

"I don't get it.
So why are you apologizing,
For an impropriety...
I have not noticed,
To have been inappropriate?
When you excuse a doing,
You know is wrong."

Again...
I'm not apologizing for anything.
However...
When you think,
I am being inappropriate.
Let me know.
Because you may be right about it.
And I might decide I am wrong.

"What is this all about? "

Your inappropriate friends.
Who commit improprities.
Especially around me.
And you say nothing about,
Them showing to me their disrespect.

"And? "

That is wrong!

"But...
That would be 'your' belief.
Wouldn't it? "

I understand.
You know how to make me,
Feel like a fool.
Don't you?

"Appropriately?
Yes.
However...
Your improprieties to commit,
To know them done.
Are inexcusable."

Okay okay okay.
I should have just kept,
My mouth closed.

"And...
The truth shall set you free."
