In America Now Poem by Randy McClave

In America Now

In America they now say
The richer you are the less taxes you pay,
The politicians are always on the wealthy side
When they have taxable income to hide.
Once upon a time as if in a fairytale
Financially the working class was doing well,
But, In 1984 because of a wealthy U.S president
The income tax rate of the wealth went from 70 to 28 percent.
He then imposed the first ever income tax on the social security benefit
So, to cover the wealthy tax breaks the retirees now pay for it,
Now the wealthy has more money to hide and to keep
The tax breaks given to them they still happily reap.
It's the middle class tax dollars that help the poor and the needy
While the wealthy still stay greedy,
The tax on the retirees social security benefit payment
Also helps the needy and the poor as their claimant.
While the working class and the retirees get highly taxed
The wealthy still wants their taxes axed,
We are the retirees and the working class
We are the buying and the voting mass.
Remember, we are the ones who made this country great
And we are in every U.S State,
Now we are sick of the rich that gets more
And how they blame the unions and the needy and the poor.
With our paid taxes and our blood and our sweat
We took our country out of debt,
I say this to the retirees and to the Unions and the politicians there
It's time for the wealthy, to again pay their fair share.
