In My Sleep I May Dream Poem by Jonathan Goldman a.k.a JGthepoet

In My Sleep I May Dream

I try to sleep,
But tired I’m not,
So, at five twenty five in the morn ~
These words I do jot.

My Mind is racing
To find the words
To describe YOUR Work, ~
I’ll not shirk.

In my Mind’s eye I see the dew
Glistening on grass and flowers too,
Before the birds begin their song,
To herald the day before too long.

I also ponder long and hard,
As to when I shall again go,
To see dusty pavements and dry leaves,
Fall in Autumn from off the trees.

When, Oh when will my leg heal,
And I can venture out again,
To see those roads a-filled with cars,
And rich men smoking big cigars?

It has been many months that I’ve been,
Cooped up within my flat,
Days and Nights full of pain,
But YOU shall heal me ~ I’m sure of that.

I wish to venture out to see
Flowers and birds, streets and more,
All of Nature that YOU’ve made,
Rivers, seas and waterfalls cascade.

To revisit places of my youth,
The Highlands and the Lakes up North,
The Yorkshire Dales and Seas around,
And all Nature will abound.

Leafy meadows in Autumn hues,
Then the paths strewn with white,
As the Winter snow comes anew,
To show us all a wondrous sight.

Please make Sleep fall on me,
Let me dream of YOUR Works,
Show me pictures of places seen,
So in my sleep I may dream.
